More than 1500 motor vehicles stolen each year

The police say more than 1500 motor vehicles are reported stolen in Jamaica each year.

The data was provided by the Stolen Motor Vehicle unit of the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Branch.

Detective Corporal Joseph Morris, speaking on the police programme, JCF Now, aired weekly on Radio Jamaica, gave a list of the makes and models that are targeted by car thieves.

He explained that these models are after because their parts are in high demand.
