Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton reported that more than 10,000 people received the COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday.
Dr Tufton, in an interview with Radio Jamaica News, said he was pleased with the turnout.
“My encouragement is that persons are beginning to respond, and with the help of other stakeholders… I think in the days to come we will see more,” he said.
Jamaicans 18 years and over can make appointments via the health ministry's website to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The ministry is aiming to inoculate 150 thousand people over the next week.
