Mother of Gabriel King continues to fight request for access to her phone

Lawyers representing Amoi Leon-Issa say they will continue to fight the request of police investigators and a judge for her to hand over the "password" or "key" to her cell phone as part of the investigation into the 2022 killing of her nine year old child.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected an application by Mrs Issa-- who was seeking leave to apply for judicial review of a Parish Court judge's ruling that she should give the cops access to her phone.

The High Court argued that there were sufficient safeguards that protect information concerning third parties not associated with the investigations.

But speaking with Radio Jamaica News today, her attorney Chukwumeka Cameron said Mrs Issa has filed a Constitutional Motion challenging the action of the police and the Parish judge who handed down her order in November last year.

The motion was filed in January.

Case Management hearing of the motion is set for June 6.

In the constitutional motion, Mrs Issa is contending that the police and judge have infringed on her right to privacy.

She further argues that their action is unconstitutional.

Mrs Issa's nine year old autistic son Gabriel King was murdered in St James last year.

Gabriel was reportedly abducted from his mother along the Tucker main road on January 13.

He was later found dead in his mother's vehicle which was abandoned off Fairfield main road in Montego Bay.

The mother had told investigators that she was attempting to navigate a pothole when armed thugs hijacked her vehicle and sped off with her child.

Investigators have accused Mrs Issa of refusing to cooperate with them in the investigations.
