Opposition Spokesperson on Local Government Denise Daley is imploring the government to ensure that housing developers hand over schemes, complete with the advertised infrastructure to include green spaces.
Ms Daley has called for housing developments which support the well-being of residents to become normalised.
She argued that in many instances, houses are handed over but green spaces or parks that should be part of the development are not complete and are "left to languish".
Ms Daley was speaking on Wednesday at the National Housing Trust handing over ceremony for Twickenham Glades in her St. Catherine East constituency.
Pearnel Charles Jr, Minister of Housing, Urban Renewal, Environment and Climate Change, agreed with MP Daley, adding that the government will be playing its part in building climate resilient communities.
"Next year, we hope that we'll be able to push programmes to integrate green parks and green spaces and sustainable living across the country.... That is the vision that the Prime Minister has articulated, that is the vision that we at the ministry are advancing," he declared.
Mr. Charles said Tuesday's announcement in the House of Representatives that $1 million will be allocated to each Member of Parliament to assist vulnerable households, is a start.
