Thirty-four-year-old Jermaine Levy, who was this afternoon handed two life sentences for the 2019 murder of a Negril businessman and his Italian wife in Westmoreland, labelled Justice Courtney Daye as "prejudiced and biased".
Levy, who was infuriated during the handing down of the sentences in the Home Circuit Court on Friday afternoon, bitterly chastised Justice Daye.
Not moved by Levy's continous mockery, the judge instructed the officers in the court to allow him to speak, as he continued his summation.
When Justice Daye told Levy that he is facing a life sentence, an inflamed Levy said: "Yuh soon know, big Poppy Show".
The judge recommended he serve 27 years before he's eligible for parole for the murder of 49-year-old Osbourne Richards.
Upon hearing the sentence, Levy uttered: "By dem time deh yuh will deh under the earth. Your day a come to...."
He is to serve 25 years before he is eligble for parole for the conviction of manslaughter in connection with the death of 45-year-old Patrizia Richards.
The deceased couple was tied up and shot during a robbery on November 29 at their West End home.
Levy, who had three previous convictions and was convicted by a panel of jurors following an eight-week trial in Westmoreland, claimed the judge made a mistake and should have taken over the case from the jurors.
According to him, he received a "kangaroo trial" but was not going to ask the judge to pity him.
Justice Daye in his summation noted that Levy, who could not have carried out the gruesome murder by himself, stated that he participated and the others are still at large.
A refrigerator belonging to the couple was found at Mr. Levy's house.
