The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) has issued another warning about the threat to Jamaica's entire coastline due to erosion.
Director of the Division, Anthony McKenzie, says the problem is due to natural and man-made factors.
“It’s more severe along the south coast when compared with the north coast, there is a generally tendency of storms to track along the south coast, generating storm surges that damage the coastline, coupled with this is the sea level rise and the impact of human activities which we all are familiar with,” he said.
The warning was made as activities were carried out on Saturday to mark International Coastal Cleanup Day.
The Jamaica Environment Trust - the coordinating agency, said there are more than 130 registered cleanup sites island wide.
