New proposed toll rates for North South Highway published

The new proposed rates for use of  the North-South Highway, which runs from Caymanas Estate in St Catherine to Mammee Bay in St Ann have been published. They come less than six months after the opening of the highway.

Users have been enjoying a 25% discount on the initial proposed rates. However, the toll operators have applied for them to be raised. The rate hike is effective September 3.

The proposed rate for users of Class One vehicles traveling from Caymanas to Ocho Rios is now $1,360. The previous proposed rate for a Class One vehicle was $1,220. Class One vehicle users are currently paying $915 due to the discount.

For Class Two vehicles, the new proposed rate is $2,730 and $4,090 for a Class Three vehicle. The Toll operators had previously asked for $2,450 for a Class Two vehicle and $3,700 dollars for a Class Three vehicle.
