NWC begins restoring water to St. Catherine communities

NWC Corporate Communication Manager Andrew Canon

The National Water Commission (NWC) says it has started restoring water to communities in St. Catherine, after it was forced to shut down the Spanish Town Treatment Plant due to heavy rains associated with Ian.

NWC's Corporate Communication Manager, Andrew Canon, said the commission's management and technical personnel were able to implement special measures to resume operations at the plant.

He said sections of Spanish Town, Old Harbour Road, parts of Portmore, including the Phoenix area, as well as St. John's Road and parts of McCooks Pen should see a resumption in their water supply.

If persons in these areas remain without water, Mr. Canon suggested it may be due to an isolated incident and the NWC will try to rectify any such situation as soon as possible.
