Opposition wants more answers from NHF regarding former board member and Market Me

The parliamentary opposition says it wants further clarification from the National Health Fund (NHF) on the connection to a former board member who is linked to communications firm Market Me, which has received government contracts.

The NHF in a statement on Monday, said board members were aware that one of the former directors, Lyndsey McDonnough, was a co-director for Market Me.

She reportedly resigned one week before the NHF board approved $15 million to pay for aspects of Jamaica Moves.

Opposition Spokesman on Health Dr. Morais Guy said the statement has raised more questions.

He said the NHF must clarify whether Ms. McDonnough participated in, or guided the discussion on the payment of the Jamaica Moves initiative before resigning from the board.

"If they are not unaware with the association of one of their directors with Market Me Jamaica, and by extension, the contract to get the Jamaica Moves programme approved for funding by them, then certainly, if they had no difficulty in just assuming that particular position then they have lost the confidence of the public in the arrangements and governance structure of board management," he contended.
