Westwood High School Principal Karen Francis

An overheated tablet computer that exploded has been identified as the cause of Thursday evening's fire at the Trelawny-based Westwood High School.
The fire gutted a dormitory room.
No one was injured.
Principal Karen Francis said two Fire Brigade units responded, but the blaze was quickly contained by the school plant supervisor who lives nearby.
Ms Francis said she is distraught by the mishap as important papers for examination preparation were lost.
The fire has dislocated more than 30 senior students who were housed on the dormitory. It also caused the suspension of classes on Friday.
The principal said work to rehabilitate the damaged building should begin in a few weeks.
She has advised students to be more careful with their devices as the school has not fully recovered from the massive fire in 2017 which destroyed the kitchen, dining room and storeroom.
