Dr Dayton Campbell, General Secretary of the People's National Party [PNP], says discussions will be held with the Party’s Deputy General Secretary, Dexroy Martin, to prevent a recurrence of comments made Monday to media workers who were covering a protest at the party's headquarters.
Concern was raised after Mr Martin was heard on audio recording criticising Radio Jamaica and Nationwide News Network reporters for wearing green clothing to the Party's headquarters.
The incident occurred while supporters of Alrick Campbell from the constituency of St Catherine South Eastern, were demanding a meeting with PNP president Mark Golding over the recent candidate selection exercise for the constituency.
Dr Campbell, speaking Tuesday on Radio Jamaica’s Beyond the Headlines, said the incident was deeply regretted and vowed that such behaviour will not be tolerated.
He also confirmed that an investigation has been launched concerning the offensive comment from an unidentified person who was present at its headquarters, directed at a female reporter from the RJRGLEANER Group.
The female member was threatened with sexual assault.
Dr Campbell said the matter will be reported to the police.
