The St. Catherine Police say they are pursuing strong leads in relation to Sunday's mass shooting in Spring Village.
A team, led by National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang and Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson, walked through the community on Wednesday morning.
It came three days after nine people were shot, three fatally, at a football match.
The tour was an attempt to reassure residents that the police will be doing all they can to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Police Commissioner Antony Anderson told residents and the grieving family members that finding the killers is one of the highest priorities of the Police High Command.
To that effect, he revealed that the police "already have some leads".
General Anderson said citizens "from all over" have been giving information "so it's only a matter of time - and it won't be a long time - before we catch up with these [perpetrators]".
Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, head of the St. Catherine South Police, confirmed a report first carried by Radio Jamaica News, that one of the gunmen involved in Sunday's attack was shot during an exchange of gunfire with two off-duty police officers and a licensed firearm holder, who were patrons at the football match.
SSP Phillips, who was also on the tour, told journalists Wednesday that the police have not yet been able to locate the culprit they believe was shot and have no leads about where that person might be.
However, he affirmed that the "investigation is going on strongly" and the police have been "getting the kind of cooperation that we're looking for", so he expects a breakthrough.
