Police urge vigilance against criminals during Christmas season

Senior Superintendent of Police Christopher Phillips

The police are urging residents to be extra vigilant, especially during the Christmas season, to repel attacks from criminals.

The call comes from head of Area Five, Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, following the murder on Tuesday of retired journalist Barbara Gayle. The body of of Ms Gayle was found with multiple stab wounds at her home in the gated community of Caymanas Country Club Estate.

Her Mercedes Benz motor vehicle and cell phone were stolen by her killer.

Investigators say they are following strong leads in their probe of the murder.

SSP Phillips says criminals will try to find soft targets to launch their attacks, "because, based on what we're seeing so far, it could be anybody else from this community, so we just want to appeal to residents to be extremely vigilant."
