Radio Jamaica News understands that three persons have been taken into custody for questioning in connection with last evening's stabbing death of a Police Sergeant in Caymanas, Portmore, St Catherine.
A senior investigator told Radio Jamaica News that charges are likely to be laid in the case this week.
Investigators are now examining CCTV footage of the incident.
Detective Sergeant Victor Francis, who was attached to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, CISOCA, died last night from a stab wound he sustained in his community.
It's reported that at about 6:45 pm, members of a family in the Caymanas community were involved in a heated altercation when the Police Sergeant intervened in an attempt to quell the dispute.
He, however, sustained a stab wound to the tendon in his leg.
The Sergeant was rushed to hospital but later died.
