Veteran trainer Vin Edwards passes at age 90

The local racing fraternity is now mourning the passing of veteran trainer and president of the Jamaica Racehorse Trainers Association Vin Edwards.

The 90 year old Edwards who conditioned horses for more than 50 years, passed away on Thursday morning. He had been ailing for a while.

His most famous runners included Secret, renowned sprinter Dye Job and Who’s That Girl. He was first elected president of the Jamaica Racehorse Trainers Association in 2004.

President of the United Race Horse Trainers Association of Jamaica, Patrick Smellie said Edwards' passing will be felt greatly in the local racing fraternity, noting that he has made a huge contribution to local racing. Edwards saddled 241 winners during his career as a trainer.
