Property manager facing cocaine charges offered $2 million bail

Allan Constable, the property manager who was charged in connection with a multi-million dollar cocaine bust in January, has been offered bail in the sum of $2 million.

The 63-year-old was offered bail following an application by his attorney, Odane Marston, in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court.

During his application, Mr. Marston pointed out that his client has no previous conviction in Jamaica and that he was deported in 2007 after he pleaded guilty in 2002 for a similar drug offence.

The attorney asked the court to take into consideration that his client has disclosed the previous conviction.

Mr. Marston said his client, who has been gainfully employed, has since maintained his innocence in relation to this matter.

He was subsequently offered bail by Senior Parish Judge Sanchia Burell.

It was reported that in January 8, a team from the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division intercepted a grey Toyota Hiace motor vehicle at the gate of a housing complex which led them to an apartment.

According to the forensic certificate, 257 pounds of cocaine was found inside an apartment in Charlton Court, St. Andrew and inside a motor vehicle.

Investigators say 47 pounds of ganja was found in a barrel at Mr. Constable's house.

He is charged with a possession of cocaine, dealing, trafficking and conspiracy to traffic cocaine.

He's to return to court on September 15 for trial.
