Some public sector workers have been complaining about being treated unfairly in relation to the work-from-home order, according to the Union of Clerical, Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE).
This follows a statement by Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Monday that a number of government-paid employees have been abusing the order.
Some of these workers told Radio Jamaica News that their supervisors are refusing to allow them to work from home despite the fact that they can carry out duties remotely.
UCASE General Secretary John Levy confirmed that he had received similar complaints from his members.
According to him, some public sector managers have been taking the position that, since they are obliged to go in to the office, those they supervise should also do so.
This, he argued, constitutes “unfair treatment”.
He is therefore encouraging public sector workers to report these issues to their unions and the Ministry of Labour.
He added the issue again highlights the need for a formal work-from-home policy.
