Construction company, Rogers Land Development Limited and its director, Richard Rogers, have been fined $1.9 million for breaching the Income Tax Act.
Rogers pleaded guilty to two counts of making false declaration in the Sutton Street Tax Court on March 21.
He was sentenced to the fine or 30 days imprisonment.
Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) who prosecuted the company said the fines were paid.
TAJ says its legal counsel led evidence that for the period January 1 to December 31, 2018 and October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020, Rogers Land Development filed income tax returns, indicating that the business collected no income, knowing this to be false.
