The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising the public to seek guidance before creating pedestrian crossings where they ought not to be.

A number of Labour Day projects across the island will involve individuals and groups improving accessibility for persons with disabilities.

NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw says the agency stands ready to offer assistance.

"You can link with us or the parish, if you're out in the different parishes. We can advise as to whether a particular crossing is legal and where they are legal crossings and they need to be brightened, you also should touch bases with us because we can assist with the technical specifications and, in some instances, our team will even help supervise the work to ensure that it is done appropriately," he suggested.

Labour Day activities are being conducted under the theme Ramp Up Di Access… Show That You Care, with emphasis on people with disabilities, the elderly and the vulnerable.
