A number of people have been detained by the police during operations carried out in New Haven, Duhaney Park, St. Andrew in the aftermath of the fatal shooting of a five-year-old girl in the community on Thursday.
Superintendent Kirk Ricketts, Commanding Officer for the St. Andrew South Division, on Thursday night told Radio Jamaica News that some of the detainees are linked to gang activities.
Investigators have identified persons believed to have been involved in the fatal shooting of Denique Salmon.
She was killed during a gun battle between rival gangs in Riverside Drive about 1:00 a.m. Thursday.
Denique was shot in the head after bullets from the gun battle entered her home.
Her mother, Cary Ambersely, told Radio Jamaica News her daughter was asleep.
