St. Mary housing project being stymied by bad road

Housing Developer Christopher White

The developers of a housing project in St Mary are appealing to the authorities to attend to the road leading to the site.

The developers of Sanctuary in Farm Hill is contending that the poor state of the road has led to a number of potential buyers walking away from the investment.

Christopher White, one of the developers, says they have written to Robert Montague, MP for St Mary Western, to seek assistance to get the thoroughfare fixed but have not received a response.

Mr Wright says the condition of the road has been deteriorating over the last four years and is posing a challenge for the transportation of material for the site and is also proving to be a turn-off for potential buyers of units in the development, who "love the property but they do not like the road and the conditions of the road."

"Most of our clients are returning residents, so it's not a good look for us or our client base for what we're trying to do here in Jamaica," he said.

The developers say they have proposed to effect repairs themselves but were advised to consult the MP before moving forward.
