Dr. Garth Anderson
The president of the Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT), Dr. Garth Anderson, is hoping calls for a push back of this year's regional exams will be given the nod during a special emergency meeting of the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) today.
Dr. Anderson disclosed that the meeting has been called to discuss the administration of the exams.
The CUT has been advocating for a three-week delay of exams, citing the unpreparedness of students.
However, CXC has said the exam schedule was determined following agreement at its council meeting in December and an adjustment would destabilise the regional consensus.
Speaking on TVJ's Smile Jamaica programme Wednesday morning, Dr. Anderson said it is not too late to adjust the dates for the exams, so he is hoping "good sense will prevail...and our students will get the extra time they are asking for".
A CXC media briefing on the examinations should happen later on Wednesday.
