World Under-20 record holder Roshawn Clarke and Oblique Seville were the best placed Jamaicans at Friday's opening leg of the inaugural Grand Slam Track series at the National Stadium.
Clarke recorded a season's best 48.20 seconds to take the runner-up spot in the men's 400 metre hurdles behind Brazil's Alison dos Santos who won in a world-leading 47.61 seconds. Another Jamaican, Maliue James King, was fourth in 48.69 seconds.
Seville posted 10.08 seconds to finish behind American Kenneth Bednarek who secured a narrow victory in the men's 100m with a season’s best of 10.07 seconds.
2-time World Championship bronze medallist Rushell Clayton was third in the women’s 400 metre hurdles in 55.02 seconds with the event going to world record holder Sydney McLaughlin Levrone in a world-leading 52.76 seconds. The meet continues on Saturday.
