Tropical wave to bring more rainfall to Jamaica on Friday

By Racquel Porter

On the heels of the passage of the category 4 Hurricane Beryl, Jamaicans are being told to brace for increased rainfall beginning Friday and going into the weekend as a tropical wave is expected to move across the island.

The Met Service says showers and thunderstorms associated with the tropical wave is expected.

Meteorologist Romayne Robinson says the tropical wave is east of Hispaniola and is moving westward.

"We expect it to be moving into the Jamaica area sometime tomorrow and passing across the island by Saturday morning. Because of this, there is in the forecast an increase in showers and thunderstorms that's expected across Jamaica in the afternoon on Friday. We do also expect some showers to continue into the night and morning, especially across sections of southern parishes, and for the afternoon on Saturday more clouds," he said, adding that thunderstorms will continue to affect most parishes.
