Two policemen attached to the Ocho Rios Police Station are nursing gunshot wounds following a shooting at the station on Tuesday morning.
Radio Jamaica News understands that a detective at the station discharged his weapon in the air to break up a scuffle among a group of men at a musical event on Milford Road, about 11 o'clock Tuesday night.
Four of the men were taken into custody to face charges.
The detective who fired his weapon at the event reportedly handed over the gun to another detective in keeping with regulations.
The second detective sergeant was in the process of clearing the weapon when it was discharged, hitting him in the hand.
The bullet also struck a detective constable in the leg.
The injured cops were taken to hospital for treatment.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the incident.
