Two cousins killed in Trelawny

Two men were shot and killed in Falmouth, Trelawny early Thursday morning.
 
They have been identified as Fabian Williams and his cousin Chevan Williams, who were both masons from Brown's Town, St. Ann.
 
Deputy Superintendent Winston Milton, acting commander of the Trelawny Police Division, says the police were alerted to gunfire on Peel Street about 2:30 a.m.
 
When they arrived, they say two men suffering from gunshot wounds. The men were taken to hospital where one was pronounced dead. The other man later succumbed to his injuries.
 
DSP Milton said the men relocated to Trelawny to work on construction sites.
 
Migrants
 
He disclosed that there has been an increase in the migrant worker population in the parish which is posing a significant threat to the safety and security of residents.
 
He noted that a number of people who have relocated to the parish recently have either been victims of serious and violent crimes or were themselves perpetrators of these crimes.
 
Added to that, DSP Milton revealed that there has been an increase in informal settlements due to the migration of persons into the parish.
 
He said the police have been working with social agencies to manage the migrant population.
