Woman whose baby was rescued from pit latrine in St. Ann now in police custody

The woman who last Wednesday gave birth to a baby girl, who was later rescued from a pit latrine by firefighters in St. Ann, is now in police custody.
 
RJR News has been informed that the woman reported to the Alexandria police station on Wednesday.
 
She was subsequently charged with cruelty to a child.
 
It was reported that the child was heard crying in the community of Hesse Cassel.
 
She was later removed from the pit latrine and taken to a hospital.
 
The child's mother reportedly left the scene during a break in an interview with investigators.
 
She reportedly requested to get a change of clothes and disappeared.
