Cayman police blaming recent robberies on gangs

Police in the Cayman Islands are blaming a string of robberies on three loosely associated groups of ten men operating across the country.

Since the start of the year, Cayman police say 35 armed robberies have been reported with 27 of those incidents involving the use of guns.

From daring daylight armed robberies to opportunistic jewellery and purse snatches, the recent spike in robberies across Grand Cayman has police concerned, as the busy Christmas season draws near.

The police say most of the men are known to them and will be stepping up efforts to have the men arrested.
