Dominican PM preparing for tenure as Chairman of CARICOM

Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says the upcoming six months will be critical for the regional integration grouping as he prepares for his tenure as chairman, which begins July 1.

Mr. Skerrit will take over from Bahamas Prime Minister Phillip Davis when CARICOM leaders meet in Trinidad and Tobago next week for their annual summit.

The summit coincides with the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas, which led to the formation of CARICOM.

Mr Skeritt highlights the resolution of the Haiti issue along with preparation for the upcoming COP 28 as two of the priority issues to be undertaken by the regional grouping.
