Calabar High and Kingston College reigned supreme on Friday's second day of competition at the 129th Penn Relays at Franklin Field Stadium at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Calabar clocked 39.79 seconds, the 7th fastest time in the competition's history to win the boys Championship of America 4x100m relay.
Kingston College finished third with 40.16, while Excelsior took 4th in 40.36, Edwin Allen 5th in 41.01, JC 6th in 41.04 and Steths 7th in 41.06.
Kingston College clocked an outstanding 3 minutes, 05.93 seconds to win the boys Championship of America 4x400 event, holding off the highly fancied Bullis high of the USA in 3 minutes, 06.31.
On the girls’ side, Alphansus Davis was the fastest qualifier in the heats of the 4x800 metres, clocking 8 minutes, 54.73 seconds to advance to Saturday's final. Hydel was the fastest Jamaican team to the Championship of America 4x100 metres with 44.55.
Meanwhile, in the field, Najhada Seymour of Excelsior won the discus with a throw of 52.01 meters ahead of St Catherine High Able Mills 50.09 metres and Jamelia Young of Clarendon College 47.54 metres
Jade-Ann Dawkins of St Jago took the girls triple jump with 13.18 metres ahead of Sabrina Atkinson of Hydel who was second with 12.51 metres.
