Edwin Allen girls and St Jago Boys lead after Day 1 of Central Champs

Defending champions Edwin Allen girls and St Jago boys are leading the respective categories after day one of the Central Athletics Championships at the GC Foster College. 

Hydel’s Brianna Lyston posted a brilliant personal best of 11.14 seconds to win her heat of the Class 1 girls 100m but did not show for the final which went to Tina Clayton IN 11.26 seconds ahead of her twin sister Tia.

Over in the Class 1 boys 400m, Gregory Prince turned in an impressive record run of 46.31 seconds to win.

Wednesday’s final day will see the 200m, sprint hurdles and 4x400m relays being among the highlights on the track.

Live coverage will be on TVJ Sports Network starting at 9:00 am with coverage to begin on TVJ at 2:00 pm until the end of the meet at 5pm.

Meanwhile, title holders Edwin Allen are leading the girls section on 202.2 points at the end of day 1. They are followed by Hydel on 158.6; St Jago 146.6; Holmwood 125 and St Catherine High 112, completing the top five.

On the boys side, reigning champions St Jago are sitting pretty at the summit on 229.5 points. Edwin Allen on 93, Clarendon College 71, Manchester High 60 and St Catherine High 59, round out the top five.
