The police in Canada have recovered the shipment of Melissa Relief Supplies, which were stolen in the Peel Region of Toronto earlier this month.
The shipping container with millions of dollars worth of clothes, food, tools and generators was stolen on December 2.
The items were collected as part of a drive to help Jamaicans devastated by the hurricane.
The group of volunteers, including Jamaicans, which collected the supplies were left devastated by the theft.
One of the lead volunteers, Michael Bennett, told Radio Jamaica News that the trailer with the stolen items was recovered last week.
The stolen trailer was found abandoned in a community in Toronto.
The Bennett, who is now in Jamaica, said most of the food items and electronic devices were recovered.
"On December 19, the container was found by the police officers and was returned on the same day. And it was returned with some of the contents missing. The 23rd of December, we repacked and shipped it.... Some of the stuff was missing, but we retained a good amount, so we are grateful. And it's shipped and we're just waiting to clear. But we are grateful for the public, what they have done," said Mr. Bennett.
Several generators were stolen from the shipment by the thieves.
Mr. Bennett said the Peel Police are following strong leads in the case.
