Freak storm hits National Stadium on eve of Grand Slam Track

There was a freak storm at the National Stadium and Stadium East around 4:00 pm on Thursday, causing minor injuries to production staff that were setting up for the inaugural Grand Slam Track event.

According to general manager of the Independence Park Limited (IPL) Major Desmon Brown, strong winds blew away some production tents in the facility, while also causing a light pole to fall on a tent at the Stadium East facility.

Major Brown said those injured were checked on by medics on site, but no one had to be taken to the hospital.
