Great turn out for Manning Cup final

High quality and a great display of football is being touted as the reason for the number of spectators at last weekend’s ISSA/Lime Manning Cup Final at the National Stadium.

Georges Forbes, President of the Inter-Secondary Sports Association (ISSA) has identified the calibre of the game against Jamaica College and Wolmer's as well as the high quality of the semi final between Wolmer's and St. George's College as the factors behind Saturday's larger than expected crowd.

ISSA was forced to open the bleachers towards the end of the first half when many fans became disgruntled after being unable to gain access to the grandstand.

Forbes also admitted that too much extra time was played in Saturday's final.

Extra time should have had 10 minutes either way but FIFA referee Courtney Campbell played 15 minutes in each period.

Forbes said there was not enough time to have had a technical meeting with the match officials leading up to the final.

JC defeated Wolmer's 3 - 2 in extra time to lift their 25th Manning Cup title.
