Louis and Athanaze narrowly miss centuries as Windies post 250-5 vs Bangladesh

Honours were even at stumps on the opening day of the first test between the West Indies and Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The home team who were sent to bat, reached 250-5 in their first innings at the close. Joshua da Silva 14 and Justin Greaves 11, were the not out batters.

Earlier, the bulk of the Windies runs came from Mikyle Louis and Alick Athanaze who shared a 140 run 4th wicket partnership.

Louis fell agonizingly short of a maiden test century after being dismissed for 97 off 218 balls with 9 fours and a six, his highest score in the 5-day format.

Athanaze made 90 which included 10 fours and a six. Kavem Hodge weighed in with 25.

Taskin Ahmed has so far taken 2-46 for the Bangladeshis. Tajmul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also took a wicket each.
