First time competitor Fraser McConnell rewrote the history books by becoming the first Jamaican driver to win a North American Rally Cross Tournament when he captured the ARX2 Championships in Ohio, on the weekend. McConnell collected the winner's medal and overall champion trophy in Ohio, United States in the two day finals of the ARX 2 Championships.
McConnell was a bit off on Saturday's first day winning only one of the qualifiers but, he'd rebound on day two, winning the overall championship after placing third in Sunday's second qualifier. McCconnell capped off his record-breaking title-winning season by mastering the extreme conditions to take his fifth win of the year, going back to the opening weekend of the season at the Cooper Tires ARX of mid- Ohio.
He also had back-to-back victories in Canada in August and at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas at the end of September. McConnell is currently sitting fourth in the World Rally Cross RX2 Championships with the next stop set for November 9 in South Africa.
