Minor placings for Jamaicans at Florence Diamond League meet

Jamaica had one 6th place and two 7th place finishes at the Diamond League meet in Florence, Italy on Friday.

World Championships bronze medallist Rushell Clayton was 6th in the 400 metre hurdles in 54.71 seconds, as the event was won by Dutchwoman Femke Bol in a world lead and meet record 52.43 seconds.

However, Clayton said she was carrying an injury going into the race, even though she refused to disclose the specific injury.

2011 world champion Yohan Blake was a 7th place finisher in the 100 metres which was won by reigning world champion, American Fred Kerley in 9.94 seconds. Blake clocked a season's best-equalling 10.15 seconds.

Candice McLeod was the other Jamaican 7th place finisher at the meet crossing the line in 52.09 seconds in the 400 metres.

The event was won by Poland's Natalia Kaczmarek in 50.41 seconds.
