MVP president confirms Jackson won't compete at Paris Olympics

Voice of MVP Track Club president Bruce James

President of the MVP Track Club Bruce James has confirmed that 2-time world champion Shericka Jackson will not feature at the Paris Olympic Games after her withdrawal from the 200 metre heats on Sunday.

This follows her decision not to contest the women's 100 metres, and now puts Jamaica's women's 4x100 metre relay team in doubt after Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce also withdrew from the semi-finals of the 100 metres on Saturday after feeling discomfort in her hamstring.

James revealed on TVJ during the station's Olympic coverage on Monday afternoon that Jackson is currently getting rehabilitation for a leg problem.

Meanwhile, Radio Jamaica Sports has also been reliably informed that 2-time Olympic 100 metre champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will not compete in the women's sprint relay which gets underway on Thursday.

Fraser-Pryce withdrew ahead of the 100 metre semi-finals on Saturday.
