Naomi Osaka won her second US Open title and third career Grand Slam following a come-from-behind three sets win over Victoria Azarenka in the final at Flushing Meadows in New York on Saturday. After losing the first set, the world number 4 Osaka stormed back to win 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 in front of an empty Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Osaka served 6 aces and had 34 winners to Azarenka's 30 to overpower the experienced Belarusian. Osaka who was actively in support of protesting racial inequality during the entire tournament, received messages of support from the parents of some of the slain black persons in the United States.
Austrian second seed Dominic Thiem faces 5th ranked German Alexander Zverev in the men's final on Sunday.
