The Jamaica Scorpions lead West Indies Academy by 274 runs with 8 wickets remaining at stumps on Thursday’s second day of their regional 4-day championship 5th round game at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
Batting a second time, the Scorpions ended the day at 110-2 with Brandon King unbeaten on 58 and Javelle Glenn on 20. Kirk McKenzie 19 and Jermaine Blackwood 2, are the batsmen dismissed.
Johann Layne picked up the two wickets to fall for 16 runs.
Earlier, resuming the day on 332-7, the Scorpions only added 43 runs with their remaining 3 wickets to be bowled out for 375.
Brad Barnes added 6 runs to score his first half century of the tournament an even 50, while Jeavor Royal added 26 for a score of 30.
Jediah Blades bagged 4-64 and got support from Ackeen Auguste 2-45.
In reply, the Windies Academy were dismissed for 211. Wicketkeeper Carlon Bowen-Tuckett top scored with 57, while Mbeki Joseph got 54.
They received support from Teddy Bishop, 30 and Blades 22. Barnes and Ojay Shields both picked up 2 wickets each for the Scorpions.
