Scorpions facing heavy defeat against Red Force

Another insipid batting performance from the Jamaica Scorpions have them staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat against the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force as they limped to 159-9 in their first innings reply. They trail by 274 runs.

Only West Indies batter Kirk McKenzie offered any resistance with 57 from 153 balls. He recorded two fours and two sixes.

Jeavor Royal is 33 not out with two fours and three sixes. Ojay Shields was dismissed with what turned out to be the last ball of the day to off-spinner Bryan Charles who has so far bagged 6-75.

 It;s his sixth first class five wicket haul. Khary Pierre has supported Charles with 2-46.

It was a disappointing day according to McKenzie who fell four overs before the close of play in what was his first half century all season.

Resuming the day at 307-7, the Red Force innings came to an end at 432 just after lunch. Terrence Hinds made 79 after restarting on 19, while Pierre got 43, having resumed on 1.

Jeavor Royal claimed three wickets while there were two wickets apiece for Peat Salmon and Ojay Shields. Scores in the match: T&T Red Force 432, Jamaica Scorpions 159- 9.
