Shelly fit again

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the defending world and Olympic 100 metres champion, is set to make her return from injury at a small meet in Lignano, Italy on Tuesday, July 19.

According to Adrian Laidlaw, Fraser-Pryce's agent, the sprinter, who withdrew from last month's Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association Supreme Ventures Limited National Senior Championship due to a calf injury, will run the 100 metres on Tuesday as she continues preparation for next month's IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.

The calf injury had also forced the Stephen Francis coached sprinter to miss the Lausanne Diamond League meet in Switzerland on June 30.

On Sunday, July 17, Fraser-Pryce wrote on the MVP Track Club twitter page that her "last 3 weeks training have been among the hardest & best in Italy."

The national record holder with 10.73 seconds also stated that she was "ready to compete".
