Sherone Simpson stays at MVP

The management of the MVP Track Club has denied reports that Athens Olympic sprint relay gold medalist and Beijing Olympic 100 metre silver medalist Sherone Simpson is expected to join Racers Track Club in October.

Sources close to Racers Track Cub told RJR Sports Simpson is expected to close out her business dealings with MVP Track Club before switching to rival club Racers, who will issue their list of athletes for the upcoming season on October 3.

But MVP President Bruce James has struck down reports of Simpson's planned switch.

“Sherone Simpson is a member of the MVP Track Club in good standing. I am not one to predict the future but as it stands now everything is fine,” James said.

Simpson's agent Paul Doyle has also denied the suggestion that the Olympian will be leaving the MVP club.

“I can confirm that that is absolutely not true. Sherone is staying with MVP and has no intention of leaving what so ever,” Doyle said.

Chairman and coach of Racers, Glen Mills, has declined to comment on the matter.

Simpson was the women's world number one sprinter in 2006, with a best time then of 10.82 seconds over100 metres, before being beset with injuries.
