World Championship silver medallist Danniel Thomas-Dodd has set a new national record for the women's shot put.
Thomas-Dodd produced a brilliant effort of 19.77 metres to finish third at the Los Angeles Grand Prix on Saturday.
The mark bettered her previous national record of 19.55 metres done in 2019. The event was won by American Maggie Ewan with a world-leading and personal best throw of 20.45 metres, while world champion Chase Ealey took the runner-up spot with 19.98 metres.
Elsewhere at the same meet, Ackeem Blake produced a new lifetime best of 9.89 seconds to land the men's 100 metres.
Blake finished ahead of the American pair of Cravont Charleston and Christian Coleman who both had the identical time of 9.91 seconds.
Another Jamaican, Ryiem Ford was 7th in a personal best of 10.11 seconds.
In the women's equivalent, national junior record holder Alana Reid clocked 11.08 seconds to finish third behind winner Morolake Akinosun of the United States in 10.97 seconds and another American, Melissa Jefferson 11.07.
The other Jamaican, Shashalee Forbes who also contested the final, placed 5th in 11.13 seconds.
Sean Bailey was the other Jamaican winner on the day, clocking a personal best 44.43 seconds to take the men's 400 metres ahead of former world and Olympic champion Kirani James.
His previous best for the distance stood at 44.70 seconds.
