Windies and Sri Lanka evenly poised entering 4th day of final test

West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers says the Caribbean side will need to maintain their intensity in the field on day four to stand any chance of victory in the second test against Sri Lanka at Galle.

Sri Lanka will resume their second innings on 46-2, still trailing the visitors by 3 runs.

The Sri Lankans lost captain Dimuth Karunaratne and Oshada Fernando for 6 and 14 respectively via the run out route just before the close of play on day 3.

Earlier, the West Indies were dismissed for 253 in their first innings reply after resuming on 69-1.

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite carried on to 72 from his overnight 22, while fellow overnight batsman Nkrumah Bonner made 32 after resuming on 1. Mayers was left unbeaten on 36.

Spinner Ramesh Mendis took a career best 6-70 for the home side. Scores in the match so far: Sri Lanka: 204 and 46-2; West Indies: 253.
