Culture and Entertainment Minister Olivia Grange, has expressed sadness at the death of Jamaican musicologist and composer, Noel Dexter.
In a release, Minister Grange described him as an icon in Jamaican music.
She added that Mr. Dexter's choral compositions were quintessentially Jamaican and Caribbean in flavour and his impact as choir director of the University Singers is legendary.
Miss Grange said he leaves a great legacy through what he did to promote Jamaican culture and the many lives that he touched.
She ended by stating that Noel Dexter's death has created a void in the musical landscape.
