Summer hit Essence by Nigerian stars WizKid and Tems has hit a musical milestone, after becoming the first African song to be certified platinum in the United States.
Recording Industry Association of America presented the duo with platinum plaques to commemorate the achievement.
Essence appeared on WizKid's album Made in Lagos, which was released in October last year.
The song topped the Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart in September, a milestone achievement for the Afrobeats genre.
