Tessanne Chin wins 'The Voice"

Jamaican songbird Tessanne Chin won the NBC talent show "The Voice" Tuesday evening in the final episode in Los Angeles.

Fellow finalists Jacqui Lee from Team Christina and Will Champlin, from Team Adam placed second and third respectively.

Tessanne wins a US$100,000 recording contract with Universal Music Group.  Earlier on the show all three finalists won Kia motor cars. 

Ahead of the announcement a massive crowd converged on Half Way Tree...they erupted in wild celebration when the annoucement was made shortly before 11 o'clock Tuesday night Jamaica time.

On the iTunes top 10 song chart Tuesday, Chin's rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" from Monday night's performance was number one, with her duet with mentor Adam Levine of the Beatles' "Let It Be" at number four, while Jacquie Lee snagged the ninth slot with "And I Am Telling You" from "Dreamgirls."'

The polls were in favor of her as The Voice Season 5 winner.  According to a poll conducted by E News, 43% Americans believed that Tessanne Chin would win the show. Also, Yet another poll by entertainment Web site Wetpaint, revealed that 49% of the participants voted for Tessanne as The Voice 2013 winner.

The two-hour finale which was aired live on TVJ and RETV saw performances from OneRepublic, Lady Gaga, Ne-Yo and Celine Dion.
