Bullish performance of Jamaica Stock Exchange "no surprise"

The recent bullish performance of  the Jamaican equities market has not come as a surprise to one local expert.

According to Mark Croskery, President of  Stocks and Securities Limited, this was anticipated.

After a three day gain last week, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Combined Index rallied to an all time high on Thursday, closing at 101,656 points. It ended Tuesday's trading session at just over 98,000 points, following a 939 point loss.

Noting that "the prices haven't moved up as much as this for a long period of time, Mr. Croskery told RJR News that "there has been quite a bit of buying interest from (the) fourth quarter last year ... the volumes have been growing really there's been very limited supply that has been on the market since January or February."

His rationale for the limited supply is that "the sellers have pulled a lot of their supplies, or a lot of their sale orders since the beginning of the year."
