The Police High Command is reporting that the police foiled a murder plot during an operation in Back Street, St. Ann on Wednesday night, which resulted in the fatal shooting of three men.
One of the deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Dickie Bonnick, of Runaway Bay, St. Ann.
The police are working to ascertain the identities of the other men.
It's reported that about 8:50 p.m., the police, acting on information, intercepted a Toyota Probox motor car occupied by Bonnick and three other men.
A confrontation ensued between the occupants of the vehicle and the lawmen.
When the shooting subsided, Bonnick and two other men were seen with gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at hospital.
An AK-47 assault rifle and a 9mm pistol were seized during the incident.
A fourth man who was also in the vehicle escaped and is being sought by the police.
Bonnick was out on bail in relation to the October 2020 murder of 38-year-old Patrick Spence.
He was jointly charged with Everett Duncan for Spence's murder.
Duncan, who confessed to the murder and implicated Bonnick, was subsequently killed.
Bonnick appeared in court on May 30 in relation to the murder of Everett Duncan, however, the matter was postponed on January 8, 2026.
The conditions of Bonnick's bail prohibited him from being in the parish of St. Ann. He was instructed not to interfere with witnesses and was required to report to the May Pen Police Station in Clarendon three times per week.
The matter was reported to the Inspectorate of Professional Standards Oversight Bureau and the Independent Commission of Investigations.
